Climate needs circularity
If we are serious about creating a sustainable society, we have to use the raw materials we have already extracted, over and over again, as often as possible. This might sound obvious, and it actually is.
Today, almost half of our climate impact, and 90 percent of water scarcity issues, are linked to the way we extract resources and produce goods and food. We really need to rethink – and fast. We have to generate new raw materials without exhausting our planet’s resources and fuelling the climate crisis.
Global GHG emissions – Billion tonnes of CO2e per year, 2010
45% of global GHG emissions can be attributed to the production of materials, products, and food, as well as the management of land.
To reach the target set in the Paris agreement we all need to change the way we make business, and we all need to push for a circular economy. But, in a circular economy there will be no waste. So, will there be any waste management companies in the future? We don’t think so.
Therefore, Ragn-Sells is transforming our business to become more of a raw material producer. Together with partners, customers, and in collaboration with scientists and academia, we are working to create more circular material loops so that as much of the resources we have already extracted, can be used over and over again.
We have an amazing opportunity to create a sustainable future by transitioning to a society based on circular principles to keep critical resources in the loop, instead of throwing them away.
The climate needs more circular solutions.
