Ragn-Sells at European Commission’s Water Resilience Forum
Ragn-Sells CEO Lars Lindén spoke on 8 December at the European Commission’s Water Resilience Forum about one of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time: PFAS contamination.
11 Dec 2025At Ragn-Sells, we are committed to turning waste into resources and detoxifying material flows to protect our planet, and Lars shared our vision for a circular economy built on three principles.
“Our three principles are fundamental to achieving the transition to a circular economy and creating a functioning market in which recycled resources substitute virgin resources. Actions should be determined by the material’s condition, rather than a strict hierarchy, to avoid the spread of unwanted contaminants such as PFAS,” says Lars Lindén.
The three principles are:
- Reduce the use of virgin resources by providing high-quality urban-sourced materials
- Decontaminate targeted material flows
- Prevent future generations from inheriting environmental and social challenges
Lars called for strong EU-level action, in particular related to:PFAS – the “forever chemicals” – that threaten ecosystems and human health including:
- Stopping deliberate PFAS use except for essential applications
- Revising the landfill directive to prevent PFAS leaching
- Targeting contamination hotspots
- Mandating research on PFAS destruction methods
- Setting levels for PFAS when using recycled material.
